In a cocktail shaker, muddle blackberries and basil leaves with lemon juice and simple syrup until well crushed and fragrant.
8 blackberries, 6 basil leaves, 1 OZ lemon juice, 0.75 OZ simple syrup
Add gin and a handful of crushed ice to the shaker. Secure lid and shake vigorously for 15 seconds.
2 OZ gin, 1 CUP ice
Double strain into a chilled highball glass filled with crushed ice. Top with chilled club soda.
To Top club soda, 1 CUP ice
Garnish with additional blackberries and a fresh basil sprig. Serve immediately while fizzy.
